Distance: 27 kilometers, elevation: 218, level: intermediate/advanced

A fantastic mountain bike route for every skill level. The route is easily accessible by bike from Kralendijk. The start of the route is in the Republiek district. Wide gravel roads characterize the beginning of the route through the Kunuku (interior roads of Bonaire). After a nice descent, the path ends at an asphalt road where with a bit of luck, Flamingos can be spotted in the lake on the left. The route continues with a nice single trail, characterized by twists and turns with some elevation. After this, the route will continue on gravel roads with a tough climb up here and there, followed by nice descents through Bonaire’s beautiful inland off-road roads.

Distance: 40 kilometers, elevation: 473, level: intermediate/advanced

A very nice mountain bike route characterized by three challenging climbs. Between the climbs, there is plenty of time to recover and, above all, enjoy! The route is easily accessible by bike from Kralendijk and starts in the Republiek district. After 5 kilometers, there is a tough climb of about 2.5 kilometers to the highest point of this route (125 meters above sea level). The climb starts on an asphalt road, later turning into an off-road road. After this climb, a beautiful descent awaits you. After the descent, you can rest on an asphalt road before the next climb on gravel roads is already waiting for you. When you reach the top, you are also halfway on the route! After the descent, you drive towards the east coast, where you go parallel on an off-road path along the ocean. Eventually, you turn off towards the asphalt road that leads you to one of the steepest asphalt climbs on Bonaire.

Here it is, the Pro- Course / Route of the Duo Extreme 2023 (Bonaire’s largest annual mountain bike event). The lap starts at Eden Beach, easily accessible from Kralendijk; of course, you can pick up the route already in Kralendijk. The route takes you south and then parallel to the airstrip into the Kunuku (interior of Bonaire). This route slowly builds up into the Kunuku, with the focus of the route being in the last 20 kilometers with three climbs. The first climb is a run that will warm you up for the 2nd climb. The 2nd climb is a tough climb called “the Hell” here on the island. After the Hell, you descend and turn left towards Terrace. The 3rd climb starts on asphalt and eventually turns into an off-road climb that takes you to this tour’s highest point (130 meters). After reaching the top, you descend and then finish at Eden Beach.

The complete round of the Duo Extreme 2023 (Bonaire’s largest annual mountain bike event). The round starts at Eden Beach, easily accessible from Kralendijk; of course, you can pick up the route in Kralendijk. The route takes you south and then parallel to the airstrip into the Kunuku (interior of Bonaire). This route slowly builds up into the Kunuku, with the focus of the route being the last 35 kilometers with five climbs. The first climb is a run that will warm you up for the 2nd climb. The 2nd climb is a tough climb called “hell” here on the island, a very tough and very long climb. After the descent from hell, you turn right to start a climb towards Rincon. After reaching the top, you descend towards the village and then, after leaving the village, immediately start another climb. After reaching the top, you descend a little bit and then turn left to climb “the wall”. The wall is known for its loose stones with a considerable gradient. Then only the last climb remains, which leads you through the villa district of Terrace. The road will turn into a goat path and brings you to the highest point of the day (130 meters). After reaching the top, you will descend to finish at Eden Beach.
